My Experience at 1640 Hart House

The 1640 Hart House feels historic the second you walk in. The low ceilings, fireplaces, different rooms and old New England character give it a feel that you just can’t recreate in a traditional ballroom.

It’s also a venue where the food is a big part of the experience. Because it operates as a restaurant as well as an event space, dinner feels like an important part of the night rather than just something happening between cocktail hour and dancing.

What I like about Hart House is that it works especially well for a wedding that wants to feel a little more intimate. There are several different rooms along with the barn, so the day can move through the property without ever feeling like you’re in one big open function room. The venue even shows weddings and dance parties taking place in the barn.

From my perspective as the DJ and MC, a venue like this is more about working with the character of the space instead of trying to turn it into something it isn’t. The different rooms and more intimate layout naturally create a different kind of energy than a large ballroom, and keeping everyone connected as the night moves along becomes really important.

If you want something historic, comfortable and a little different from the typical wedding venue, the 1640 Hart House is a really nice Ipswich option.
