My Experience at the Hawthorne Hotel
The Hawthorne Hotel has a really classic, historic feel that fits Salem perfectly. Ceremonies are often held either on the Common or right in the main ballroom. If the ceremony is in the ballroom, guests typically head upstairs or to Nathaniel’s for cocktail hour while the room is flipped for dinner and dancing.
I usually set up along the ballroom wall near the kitchen entrance, basically centered with the dance floor. One fun thing about the room is that photographers can head upstairs and shoot down over the ballroom for a full-group photo, which makes for a great moment. Depending on the time of year, getting into Salem can take a little extra planning, but once you’re there, it’s a really authentic New England setting and a great room to work.
