My Experience at Cruiseport Gloucester
I know Cruiseport Gloucester pretty well. I’ve worked a number of weddings, proms and other events there, and from a DJ standpoint, it’s a room that’s easy for me to get comfortable in quickly.
I typically set up with the harbor and deck off to my right. From there, I have a great view of the dance floor and the rest of the room, which makes it easy to read what’s happening and adjust the music and energy as the night moves along.
The Grand Ballroom itself is a big part of what makes Cruiseport work. You’ve got large windows looking out over Gloucester Harbor, high ceilings, plenty of natural light and the deck right outside. It’s a larger room, but the water and windows keep it from feeling like a generic ballroom.
Cocktail hour can happen in a few different ways depending on the wedding. I’ve seen it downstairs, upstairs, and Cruiseport also offers the option of doing it aboard Beauport Cruiselines before guests come back into the ballroom.
Once the reception gets going, there’s plenty of room for a big dance floor and a larger crowd. That makes it especially good for weddings where you want the room to feel full of energy without feeling packed in.
